I own and operate OnQ Siberians Service Dogs( www.OnQSiberians.org ).I was recently made aware of this story, because someone thought that I might be this company. I am shocked and horrified, and I would like to reach out and help at least some of the families affected by these horrible scam artists. It breaks my heart to know that these children have been carrying around pictures of dogs that they will never bring home. My heart goes out to the parents, who thought that they would have help with their child. A dog to bring their child comfort, to distract them from hurting themselves, to ring an alarm to let the parents know that their child is hurting themselves, a dog to prevent their child from wandering away, to tell on them as they try to wander away, and if all else fails a dog trained to help them track their child if they do in fact wander away. Now those parents know that they are back to square one and some have probably given up hope. This is truly sad. Well maybe they would take notice if word got out that Global Giving supports backyard breeders/puppymillers. Because that is EXACTLY what Lea is, in addition to being a cold, heartless scam artist. REPUTABLE breeders DO NOT advertise on Puppyfind. Period. I cannot believe that GG is still defending her and not angry they THEY have also been scammed.

The attorney would need to be licensed in Illinois and would be representing families from several states across the country (none in Illinois). We have not been able to find one who would consider taking this case.

That is what I am saying. She has not made any attempt at communication with the families since becoming funded by the Pepsi Refresh grant administered by GlobalGiving. She has ignored all emails to her from the families and provided no information whatsoever. She has refused to go on record.

GlobalGiving is running interference for her on a regular basis. GlobalGiving knows that she has disappeared. They have "encouraged" her to provide more regular communication and Lea has agreed. Apparently, that means to make it more difficult for people to contact her.

They have also closed comments on the post. Apparently, nobody wants to hear about it anymore and Lea doesn't want to talk about it.

Frustration does not help things.

Are you saying that the families are not getting any communications from her at all???? (phone calls, private emails, etc)

It's hard to know how much we should get involved if she is working with the families privately.

I would think that persistent, regular phone calls from the families to her would be in order. Record the conversations (be sure to announce at the beginning of the call) and then you'll have a record of what she is "communicating." If she is telling inconsistent stories and you have them recorded, then you have something to share with Global Giving and the rest of the world.

If none of that is happening and she really has disappeared then GG should be told that too.

You have been doing a good job so far in trying to educate us. Let us know specifically what we can do to help.

My feeling is that the light now needs to shine brighter and with more intense focus on corporate responsiblity here; remember, we are living in an era where one single person convinced Bank of America to change their greedy new policy through the connections she made with ordinary people gathering together, and I believe that we can right this ship and turn it's course into the charitable waters that Pepsi and Global Giving began their "refresh everything" campaign to have us believe they were responsible for creating.

To me, this whole thing is like that huge ship off the coast of Italy that caused so much damage when its captain took it off course and then cruelly abandoned ship...Pepsi and Global Giving, did you also abandon the ship with Lea Kaydus and the fraudulent "Animals with Autism" when you claimed it was headed toward your charitable water? If so, shame on you, for you left these ten families flounding in dark water, believing you were safe because nobody would notice. North Star has thrown out an important lifeline for them, for we can and will serve these ten families if they are found to be good candidates for an autism assistance dog placement and if funding can be found. This amount of money is a simple drop in the bucket to these giant corporations, and a waterfall to the parched lives of these disappointed families. To my mind, Pepsi and Global Giving are as culpable as the captain of the sunken ship; fortunately with the real sinking ship off the coast of Italy there were others above this terrible captain who recognized the evil in this one person's act that hurt so many with outright deception and organized an immediate rescue.

My words specifically call to Ellen Degeneres, who I know to be an animal lover and kind hearted person, or to someone who will read them who is equally kind hearted and media connected enough to call more attention to this travesty of justice...remember, it takes a village to raise a child with autism, and a village is now needed to be sure these ten children are given what Pepsi and Global Giving promised them...

We will not give up or go away...we have just begun to fight and there is only one side here: the children's side...

If you agree, take a moment to pass these words along to Ellen, or offer her your own; you can also write to Donna Callejon at Global Giving or to Ms. Nooyi (President of Pepsi), who I hear is an enlightened person and just might use her power to turn this whole ship around...

You're posts for this have been so well written and contained a wealth of information. How anyone can continue to deny that in the LEAST a mistake was made and needs to be rectified in some manner is beyond me.

Thank you, you and your wife have been amazingly strong through this. The strength it took to stand up and call attention to it is phenomenal. You are bring to light more than just this concern, you're helping people see the importance in listening to your own instincts and standing up for yourself and your family.
